When you stand in Downtown Squamish with your eyes closed you can feel the community spirit being whipped around by the ‘Squamish Winds.’ It has a charming feel, while being lively and upbeat. We love Squamish for this, but open your eyes and you’re met with mind blowing views from every angle. Towering peaks, turquoise waters, dense forest and raging rivers. To the North you’ll find Cloudburst Mountain that acts as the splitting point for Squamish River to the North West and Paradise Valley, with the Cheakamus River, to the North East. One of the more obvious landmarks next to Cloudburst Mountain is The Black Tusk, a towering pinnacle of black volcanic rock.
Moving round Eastwards the huge backdrop of Round Mountain, the Stawamus Chief and Sky Pilot Mountain make you feel smaller than ever. Communities such as Garibaldi Estates, Garibaldi Highlands, University Highlands and Valleycliffe are all imbedded in hills on the Eastern Side.
These communities also benefit from views South East and South across Howe Sound and Murrin Provincial Park. The Sea to Sky Highway looks like it has been delicately laced along this incredible stretch of fore-shore. Yep, you’ve guessed it, looking Westerly over towards Downtown Squamish and behind are more mountains! The line of peaks that in winter become a ski-tourer’s paradise are Mount Sedgwick, The Red Tusk, Serratus Mountain, Mount Tantalus and Pelion Mountain.
